John Henry

I am retired. I have a B.S and M.S. in Education and taught school in Michigan and
Oregon. I have also driven a truck, trained adults with disabilities, and worked at many
other types of jobs. I have written memoirs, short stories and non-fiction for several
years. I have been in the writers’ group at the Campbell Center for over two years and
have enjoyed your magazine

opened us to new, grand possibilities. Some of the possibilities were a return for me to camping, hiking, travel and
writing. Antelope, pileated woodpeckers, golden eagles, hot springs, Saturday Market and the annual whale migration
are just a few of the Oregon delights that have stimulated the poetry within. Memories of living through the 60s and
active service in Vietnam have also moved me to write about my personal experiences, warped by anger, frustration
and love.
